Five cars have been damaged after a police chase in Blackpool following reports of antisocial behaviour on a nearby football pitch.
The incident happened down Granville Road, Blackpool, at around 1am today (June 12) following reports of police activity in the area due to a car being seen driving over the Claremont Park football field.
Police on the scene reportedly confirmed to witnesses the crash happened after a police chase involving a suspect related to the football pitch driving.
It comes after the park was repaired during lockdown with hundreds of thousands of pounds invested into improving facilities.
Images from the scene of this morning’s crash show one car being recovered by police while a number of others have been damaged.
This includes some cars being scraped along their side and front, with blown out tyres.
Other vehicles can be seen to have been shunted into nearby residential walls.
Lancashire Constabulary’s Force Incident Manager was unable to provide any further information on what happened.
It is not known if any arrested have taken place.
It is not the first time Claremont Park has been targeted by rogue motorists.
In February last year, a burning Ford KA was left on the park with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to put out the blaze in the early hours of the morning.
