A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the neck in Blackpool.

Police and paramedics were called to Yorkshire Street shortly after 5am today (May 27) to reports of an assault.

Officers found a man in his 30s with a stab wound to his neck inside a property on the street.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a ‘stable condition’.

Lancashire Constabulary said a 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

She is currently in custody for questioning.

Pictures sent to LancsLive showed a police presence along several roads in the area and blood along the pavement.

Witnesses reported seeing blood on the corner of the road, at the junction with Yorkshire Street, outside the C Sider Pizza Kebab House.

Police officers were also spotted along Bairstrow Street and Dale Street today, with a police van in attendance.

An investigation is ongoing and no-one else is being sought in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “We were called to Yorkshire Street, Blackpool at 5.04am today (May 27th) to a report of an assault.

“Officers attended and found a man in his 30s with a stab wound to his neck inside a property on the street. He was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a stable condition.

“A 35-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody.

“Our enquires are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident but no one else is being sought in connection with it.”
