Here’s where Blackpool’s next Starbucks will be

Plans to build a Starbucks drive-thru coffee shop at a Blackpool leisure park have been given the go ahead by town hall planners.

The scheme which will see investment at the Festival Leisure Park on Rigby Road was approved by the council using delegated powers.

Objections had been submitted from residents on Rigby Road who warned the proposal would lead to increased traffic levels and noise.

But a report by planning officers said these concerns had been dealt with in previous planning applications for the site.

The outlet – set to be the third new Starbucks on the south side of Blackpool – will be built next to the existing Frankie and Benny’s restaurant on land currently used for parking.

A new vehicle entrance to the site will be created from Rigby Road, while the scheme also includes changes to the car park and will mean the total number of parking spaces on the site is 497 compared to the original number of 604.

Other tenants on the site include the Odeon Cinema, Bannatyne’s Gym and a Macdonalds restaurant, while work on a new bingo hall has stalled.

However there are signs this could be resurrected, after Austringer Capital, the applicant behind the Starbucks plan, signalled its intent of “completing the stalled development of the bingo hall”.

The statement was made in documents accompanying an application to the council seeking permission to revise a planning condition for the bingo hall scheme.

Construction work stopped on the £7m new Club 3000 bingo hall last year. It was granted planning permission on appeal in 2019.
