One of Blackpool’s most iconic landmarks has become the setting of an enchanting new Amazon remake of the classic tale Cinderella.

Speculation was rife early last year when Hollywood actors were spotted on the Promenade wearing elaborate costumes.

A teaser trailer released yesterday (July 1) has now revealed Blackpool Tower ballroom was used to host scenes in the Sony Pictures new adaptation of ‘Cinderella’ streamed by Amazon Prime.

It has now been confirmed by Blackpool’s tourism board that the world-famous dancefloor was used for Cinderella’s enchanting ball.

Written and directed by Kay Cannon, the film stars Camila Cabello, Idina Menzel, Nick Galitzine, Missy Elliot, Minnie Driver, Pierce Brosnan, Maddie Baillio, Charlotte Spencer, John Mulaney, Romesh Ranganathan along with James Corden.

The musical comedy re-imagines the traditional ‘Cinderella’ story in which the heroine is an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow.

Billy Porter makes an entrance as the gender neutral fairy godmother to help her achieve her dreams.

Five years ago, director Tim Burton filmed much of Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children in and around the Tower buildings.
