A lifeboat was launched this morning (September 4) following reports that a person had “jumped off” a Blackpool pier and had suffered injuries.

However the person had just got into trouble in the water and was suffering from the effects of cold.

RNLI Blackpool launched a D-Class boat near North Pier and located the casualty where they were checked out by medics.

Police and an ambulance crew were also in attendance.
