People are being told to visit NHS 111 online unless they have ‘life-threatening and emergency conditions’
Blackpool Victoria Hospital has issued a warning for people to stay away from A&E unless in a genuine medical emergency.
The hospital is “extremely busy” dealing with 105 patients in A&E this evening (November 8).
Trust bosses have asked that people manage their conditions by visiting NHS 111 online and ‘keep the space and time for patients with life-threatening and emergency conditions’.
It comes after a similar plea was made last Tuesday (November 2) and after Blackpool Teaching Hospitals declared a ‘critical incident’ earlier this month due to high numbers of patients.
Posting on social media this evening, the hospital trust said: “There are 105 people in our A&E at the moment.
“If you condition is NOT an emergency, please visit NHS 111 online. We need to keep the space and time for patients with life-threatening and emergency conditions.
“Please #HelpUsHelpYou. Thank you for your support.”
The trust covers Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Clifton Hospital and Fleetwood Hospital.
