Police swarm Blackpool street after ‘domestic incident’ in house

A large police presence was seen in a Blackpool street this weekend following reports of an alleged ‘domestic incident’ at a house.

At least six police vehicles were photographed in the area of Gisburn Grove and Jackson Street in the Layton area of the town on Saturday afternoon (November 20).

Lancashire Constabulary said a man then allegedly ‘became aggressive towards them and assaulted them’.

No details have been provided on injuries.

A police force spokesperson told LancsLive: “We were called at shortly before 2pm on Saturday to a report of a domestic incident at an address on Scorton Avenue in Blackpool.

“Officers attended and a man became aggressive towards them and assaulted them. He was arrested a short time later.”

Christopher Wignall, 19, of Scorton Avenue, has been charged with criminal damage, assault on an emergency worker and obstructing police.

He was due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court this morning (November 22).
