Lancashire cases show no drop with one area still recording much higher numbers

Blackburn with Darwen has seen the biggest increase again with 26 new cases

Lancashire has recorded 73 new cases of Covid-19 for the second day running.

According to Public Health Figures released today (May 9), more than a third were found in Blackburn with Darwen.

Hyndburn, which still has the highest rate in England but is now seeing that number come down quickly, recorded a further four cases.

Preston, which recently saw a prison outbreak, recorded just one new case.

Not one area reported zero cases.

Government data up to May 6 also shows that of the 52,403,417 jabs given in the UK so far, 35,188,981 were first doses and 17,214,436 were second doses.

The data below includes the total number of cases and overall infection rate for each area since the pandemic began. Many of these cases will no longer be active.
