The application has been submitted by Optimum Child Care Ltd
Plans for a small-scale children’s care home in Fleetwood have been proposed.
An application has been lodged with Wyre planners for a change of use from a dwelling to a children’s Care Home for up to two children at a property on The Crescent at Broadwater in Fleetwood. .
The application has been submitted by Optimum Child Care Ltd and the property involved is a three-storey house.
A supporting statement on behalf of the applicants, submitted with papers, stated: “This application is not an application to intensify the existing use as it for only two children in a property with three bedrooms.
“It is believed that there will be little difference in the nature of the property when compared to the residential use by a family with children.
“Although there may be a change of use involved, this does not mean that it is an unacceptable change, or that there would be any significant effect on adjacent properties.”
It added: “The proposed use here is as a care home for children in need of care.
“This would be two children being looked after at the premises.
“This is a type of use that is generally accepted to be best located in the community.
“It is, in reality, very similar to a house used as a family home.”
All children’s homes in England cannot legally function without registration with regulatory body Ofsted and the applicants have sought to pint out that registration is a rigorous process in which providers must demonstrate they are fit and proper persons to carry on the business.
No objections have been received by the council in relation to the proposals.
Lancashire County Council highways says the proposals will have no significant impact on highway safety or capacity in the immediate vicinity.
A decision on the application is pending.
