TV crews filming the new Netflix show Stay Close shot a dramatic arrest scene in Blackpool.

Images show armed police on Blackpool beach as James Nesbitt strides confidently way after a successful arrest.

The criminal is seen with his hands above his head and later in handcuffs.

Ice cream man, Maurice Murray, who has vans on Blackpool Streets and caravan parks, said: “The ice cream van is smack bang in the middle of the action.

“The police chase ends at the side of the van with armed police and James Nesbitt jumping out of their vehicles and chasing the bad guy down the steps at the side of the van and onto the beach.”

Rumours began to circulate this week that something big was being filmed when TV crews were spotted filming at Seasiders Way car park with a sign stating it was shut until July 1.

They were then spotted at Bloomfield Road around 6pm which led locals to believe that the filming was in relation to a football friendly due to their proximity to Blackpool Football Club stadium.

Filming for major TV shows is much more common in Lancashire today than it once was. In addition to the Stay Close filming, we’ve recently seen Star Wars filming in Cleveleys, The Bay filming in Morecambe and Peaky Blinders over in Rossendale.

LancsLive has approached Netflix for comment.
