Whether you fancy a walk with your dog or a quick trip out to see the sea, the Fylde Coast is a beautiful place to be.

According to travellers on Tripadvisor, its also one of the best places to pop in to an independent cafe for a coffee or pot of tea – or even a bite to eat.

There are a lot of coffee shops on the Fylde coast, so much so, working out where to pick up your hot companion for your winter walk can be a little tricky.

One way to find out where’s good is to hear from people who have been there before, and travellers on Tripadvisor are there to do exactly that.

Here are the highest rated cafes on the Fylde Coast, including coffee spots from Fleetwood, Blackpool and Lytham St Annes.

Curiositea at 23

Curiositea at 23 is rated #6 of 449 restaurants in Blackpool and boasts a five-star rating following 200 reviews left by previous guests.

The Layton Road cafe serves breakfast, lunch and brunch and has only 13 reviews below ‘excellent’.

Of its 187 ‘excellent’ reviews, those who have previously visited the cafe have said it is a ‘beautiful place’ with ‘great food’.

One guest named Donna wrote: “What an amazing coffee shop. Nothing was too much trouble for us. The lady who owns it had so much knowledge on gluten free as he dad has it and she took her time to tell us things which were gluten free(which was most of the menu) and even said she had different mayonnaise in the back.

“The portion sizes are huge and the homemade coleslaw is so fresh. The staff are so lovely and chatty and nothing was too much trouble for them. Honestly it is worth 10 and more. Do not come to this area without stopping in you will not be disappointed.”

Curiositea at 23 is open Tuesday – Saturday from 9am until 4pm.

The Lytham Kitchen

The Lytham Kitchen, in Lytham St Anne’s, is rated #6 of 115 restaurants in the area. It is rated 4.5 stars overall following 568 reviews left by previous guests on Tripadvisor.

422 of those reviews rate the Lytham Kitchen as ‘excellent’ with many praising the cafe for its varied menu.

Graham W said the cafe is ‘reliably good’ and wrote: “Always a great experience here – friendly staff, great service, and food always on form. Everything you’d want in a small cafe/restaurant.”

The Lytham Kitchen is open from Monday to Saturday from 9:30am until 4:30pm. On sunday it is open from 10:30am.

Mojo

Mojo in Bispham is rated #1 of two coffee and tea shops in Bispham. It has a five-star rating following 79 reviews from previous guests and is yet to receive a review below ‘very good’.

76 of its 79 reviews rate it as ‘excellent’ with many customers simply stopping by to pick up a coffee or a bite to eat.

One user described it as a ‘lovely little coffee shop’ and wrote: “My partner and I stopped off at this little gem on a recent day out in Blackpool. We ordered a couple of lattes and both agreed that these were delicious.

“The barista was very friendly and informative about the products. The drinks were great value and the added touch of a little Lotus biscuit on the side was very welcomed. We would 100% recommended this coffeeshop to anyone looking for a well made coffee and wanting to support local businesses.”

Mojo is a place ‘for coffee lovers’ and is open every dau from 9:30am. It closes at 4:30pm every day except Friday and Saturday, where it closes at 10pm.

Beach Cafe Fylde

Beach Cafe Fylde is rated #5 of 31 quick bites in Lytham St Anne’s. Prices range from £6 to £11, its veggie friendly and has gluten free options.

Situated on the South Promenade, its the ideal spot to pick up a hot drink on a coast walk.

Previous customers have said it is ‘worth a visit’ with others saying they serve a ‘great cuppa in safe environment’.

Carolyn B said it is an ‘excellent place’ and wrote: “Great food, spotlessly clean and we felt very safe. The scrambled egg was perfect and the toast was lovely, not just warmed up bread. To crown a lovely all day breakfast they serve Rooibos tea. 10/10 for that. We will be back.”

Beach Cafe Fylde is open every day from 9am until 5pm.

Katie’s

Katie’s in Fleetwood is rated as #1 for desserts in Fleetwood and has five-stars on Tripadvisor.

The cafe is in the Affinity Lancashire shopping centre (?) and is said to be ‘excellent’ by those who have visited before.

One customer reviewed the cafe last week and wrote: “Greeted by, polite well dressed staff who show you to a table. Lovely clean restaurant. Plenty of choice on the menu, I had the special, southern chicken on a ciabatta with salad and fries, dad had a full breakfast. Both severed in a timely manner and the food was delicious, both plates went back empty. Will definitely recommend and we will return.”

The cafe was established in 2018 and is open every day from 10am until 4:30pm. On Sunday it opens at 10:30am.

Compass cafe bar

Compass Cafe Bar of Birley Street in Blackpool is rated as #1 of 124 Quick Bites at the resort. It is rated five-stars overall following reviews from 235 customers on Tripadvisor.

215 of its 235 reviews rate it as ‘excellent’ with some guests branding Compass cafe bar as ‘the best’.

Helene D said: “Been here twice in a row for breakfast and it can’t be beaten on price, quality or friendliness of the team working here. They are lovely and welcoming the place is spotless and the food beautiful!”

Compass Cafe Bar is open every day from 9am until 4pm, on Saturday it closes at 5pm.

Carol and Jason’s The Eating House

The Eating House in Fleetwood is rated #2 of 53 restaurants in Fleetwood and boasts a five-star rating following 112 reviews.

The Adelaide Street cafe has been described as a ‘very homely and cosy little place to eat’ by previous customers.

Detlev M wrote: “5 out 5, very friendly family run eatery. We ordered a small all day breakfast and a coffee, and not only was the food lovely, but the portion was more than we expected. well worth it . lovely small place were you can eat relaxed.”

Carol and Jason’s The Eating House is closed on Monday, Sunday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday it is open from 8am until 3pm and promises a good breakfast.

Fresh Cafe

Fresh Cafe in Lytham St Anne’s is rated 4.5 on Tripadvisor with previous customers praising the ‘excellent cafe’.

Its dog-friendly and is highly thought of for its cakes and afternoon tea.

One user left a shining review in December and wrote: “Lovely cafe, great service & an excellent breakfast, great value and staff very welcoming pleasant and attentive. Used two days in a row as we were visiting family and they remembered the previous days order.

“Dogs welcome and they received a sausage each which helped keep them quiet. We will definitely be returning.”

Fresh cafe is open every day, except Monday and Sunday, from 10am until 4pm.

Ziggy’s Cafe Bar

Ziggy’s Cafe Bar in Cedar Square, Blackpool, has a five-star rating built up from 223 reviews from previous customers on Tripadvisor.

The cafe has been praised for its ‘great value’ and ‘amazing’ breakfast by many happy guests.

One user, lynnereay78, said they serve a ‘great breakfast with quality ingredients’.

They wrote: “Saw this place reviewed by a vlogger the macmaster and he rated this place as exceptional so we gave it a go, we ordered the breakfast special which as £12 for 2 people, it came with a very good quality sausage, 2 bacon, mushrooms, fried egg, beans in a separate pot, 2 toast and a tea or coffee.

“The food was delicious and hot, the service was fantastic and the place is spotlessly clean. We will definitely going back every visit to blackpool. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.”

Ziggy’s Cafe Bar is closed on Wednesday and Sunday, but it is open from 10am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Cafe Royal

Fleetwood’s Cafe Royal is also among the highest-rated cafes on the Fylde coast.

It has 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor following 345 reviews left by previous customers, 233 rate Cafe Royal as ‘excellent’.

One guest said Cafe Royal is ‘Fleetwoods best kept secret’ after visiting in October.

The user, Shay2589, wrote: “This was our first visit after being recommended by a freind and it definitely lived upto our expectations. We visited last Sunday and upon arrival we were made to feel really at ease (especially with all the do’s and dont’s at the moment).

“We were greeted by a bubbly staff member and asked to sanitise, fill the track and trace and wear our mask to the table until we were seated at the table which was being sanitised just as we walked in. We opted for the 3 course roast dinner and it was delicious, the beef was tender and tasty and the chips were the real deal – home cooked!!

“Service was superb, really well run under what we can only imagine must be difficult circumstances for them. Thankyou ladies we will definitely be back soon”

Others have said ‘you will not find better homemade chips’ than those at Cafe Royal.

Cafe Royal is open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am until 5pm.

Bistro St Annes

Bistro St Annes of Orchard Road in Lytham St Annes has a five-star rating on Tripadvisor and is rated as #4 of 115 restaurants in the area.

Of its 218 reviews, 185 of them consider the cafe ‘excellent’ with many citing its ‘great’ and ‘tasty’ food.

One customer wrote: “We had two large breakfasts and a breakfast barm. Everything was excellent and served by lovely friendly staff. I would highly recommend this place. The tea was good too. The decor is nice with plenty of space between tables and the food is thoughtfully presented.”

Bistro St Annes is open from 10am until 4pm from Tuesday to Saturday.

Number Five

Also in Blackpool’s Cedar Square is Number Five who have 4.5 stars on Tripadvisor.

Of its 349 customer reviews, only 18 rated it below ‘very good’ – 263 rated it as ‘excellent’.

The cafe is praised for its paninis, cakes, coffee and ‘pleasant atmosphere’ frequently in its reviews.

One customer said it is a ‘great cafe’ and added: “Stopped off here for Coffee & Cake. Great quick service, nice coffee, nice cake & good price. Is nicely situated with a view over the square.”

Number Five is open every day from 9:30am. It closes at 4:30pm from Monday to Wednesday, and at 5pm from Thursday to Sunday.

The Black Sheep Tea Room

The Black Sheep Tea Room in Lytham St Anne’s is rated 4.5 stars overall by previous guests on Tripadvisor.

123 of its 162 reviews rate it as ‘excellent’.

It is generally praised for its ‘lovely food and great service’ with other previous customers sharing its ‘amazing afternoon tea’.

One customer said: “I recently went with a girlfriend to the black sheep tearoom. We ordered an afternoon tea. The staff were fantastic Very friendly. The food was all so fresh and delicious, I will be back again very soon.”

The Clifton Street gem is open every day. It opens at 9:30am from Monday to Friday, but opens at 10am on Sunday.
