A renowned Blackpool curry house which has rave reviews has been shortlisted for a major national culinary award.

Baby Kingfisher restaurant in Blackpool has made the shortlist of the prestigious 11th Asian Curry Awards 2021 in association with Just Eat.

The celebrated awards are due to take place tomorrow (Sunday, November 21) from 6pm at the Grosvenor House in London.

Yet the popular restaurant, situated on Highfield Road, has already notched up accolades after its owner was recently crowned Chef of the Year in the Asian Curry Awards in Manchester in August, and bagged the National Curry Association’s ‘Chef of the Year’ award in London.

Owner Mohammed Iftekher Hussain, 47, said he was ‘very happy’ with being shortlisted for the latest award.

He said: “As a business, I always try to improve, and as long as you’re moving forward with small steps, that’s a good thing.

“We have been here for five years. I was born into restaurants and I literally lived above a restaurant. I’m very happy – what can I say?”

Renowned for its succulent Indian dishes and mouthwatering delicacies, Baby Kingfisher’s staff boasts more than six decades of experience in the Indian catering industry.

Meanwhile, their takeaway and online menu also offers a host of succulent, spicy dishes, from seafood specials to retro food and traditional, Indian dishes.

Topping their list of delicious looking chutneys are mango, onion, mint sauce, lime pickle and chilli sauce, to name but a few.

It may come as no surprise to discover that the award winning, culinary expertise of this renowned Indian eatery has attracted heaps of praise on Trip Advisor, where It notched up a rating of 4/5.

A reviewer named ‘Phillip B’ was full of praise, stating: “Best Indian ever beautiful decor fantastic service and the food amazing the best Indian food I’ve ever had massive menu the food was absolutely brilliant.”

Similarly, Vijayk195 said: “We are from Leicester, curry capital. Enjoyed all the dishes made – superb; it beats 5 star. One has to go and try the food at Baby Kingfisher to understand what I am saying. It’s a must visit restaurant – will surely be making a trip to Blackpool again soon just to enjoy the cuisines at this place.”

Meanwhile, a reviewer called ‘sctd421’ said: “Stumbled across this lovely restaurant whilst researching places online. It isn’t in the centre of town but still fairly easy to access. It is one of the best Indian meals I’ve had, excellent quality food, which was very delicious, the service was also excellent too, I would certainly return and would highly recommend.”

The 11th Asian Curry Awards are open to professional chefs working in Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese restaurants and takeaways.

Organised by the Asian Curry Foundation, The 11th Asian Curry Awards will take place on November 21 from 6pm at Grosvenor House in Mayfair in London.
