This weekend, families from across Lancashire and beyond will be enjoying the Bank Holiday break, visiting family and making the most of a few extra days off work.

From staycations and visiting tourists destinations to queuing in traffic to visit loved ones, it’s a busy long-weekend for many.

And without a doubt, crowds will be venturing to Blackpool as they have for generations.

We’ve taken a look through our archives to see how we celebrated Bank Holidays in Blackpool in the past. Taken in June 1960, they show everything from people paddling in the water to sunbathers and more.

Maybe you will recognise someone you know or remember these Bank Holiday traditions of the past.
